The British Dietetic Association recently changed their recommendations on people taking vitamin D supplements. They now advise that all adults and children over the age of one should consider taking a daily supplement containing 10 micrograms (µg) of vitamin D especially during autumn and winter¹. This is because low vitamin D levels in children can cause Rickets, a bone deformity and in adults it can cause Osteomalacia, a softening of the bones.
